Africa Development

The continent of Africa has had a troubled recent history, with a number of famines, wars and unstable political situations being regular headlines in the international media.  Africa is the second most populous continent in the world, and it is also the second largest in terms of overall area.  Despite this, it remains the poorest and most underdeveloped of all the continents on Earth.  The makeup of the African population is diverse and complex, with about 15% of the world’s people grouped into the 53 different African nations.  While some African countries have seen some impressive economic and industrial development in recent times, there are many more who are struggling in the face of poverty, malnutrition and war.

The steel industry is starting to make some inroads into the continent, often through prefabricated garages and related products.  These pre-fab concrete garage (Beton Fertiggarage) structures can be well suited to Africa, as they provide a cheap and simple storage solution for those who can afford them.  These structures are normally used as carports, although they are just as effective as storage solutions for tools, provisions and almost anything else that you could think of.  Pre-fab garages are even a good solution for the temporary housing that many people in the continent have required at certain troubled times.  While an improvement and expansion of industrial activity is one part of the solution to the problem of African underdevelopment and suffering, there are many more pieces to the puzzle.

The HDI (human development index) is one respected and recognised way to measure growth and prosperity among nations.  It works through normalising many of the related issues of human development in order to come up with a per capita index reference.  This reference – when it is studied in a comparative context -  is seen to be heavily skewed towards some global geographic regions.  The continent of Africa is definitely on the lower end of this human development scale, and many diverse solutions will be needed to make a difference to these figures.  While industrial and economic prosperity would definitely be positives in African development, there are the even more pressing concerns of war and malnutrition which need to be addressed and solved in some regions.
Almost all African nations can be found on the very low end of this HDI development scale.  While a couple of countries such as South Africa and the Northern African nations do make a positive impact in economic terms, the overall state is one of depression and trouble.  The HDI is a valid reference as it combines data like life expectancy and literacy – which have very important effects on the lives of African people  – together with economic development.  Most of the African nations are classified as developing or undeveloped countries because of their low HDI levels and their basic level of economic and industrial development.

The prefabricated garage industry may not seem that important in the grand scheme of Africa’s troubles, however, the health of this industry is a good reference point for the growth of the entire region.  Many of the more prosperous and developed of the African population are interested in solutions like these to store their cars and secure their belongings.  While some African people may not even have houses, there are many who do and are helping to develop the nation by providing an active role in its industrial growth and development.  Hopefully, the future of Africa will be a bright one, and more people will have the money and the need for storage solutions that can help to drive the African economy forward.
